# 08 · The Advanced Edition — the evolution chain and fusion, in full

**Guide v3.0 · Law revision v5.4 · updated 2026-10-13.** This doc is the deep-dive on the model that reshaped every serial's power system: **techniques evolve; there is no terminal.** The short form lives in [`01`](01_the_laws.md) (F14 · F18 · F23 · F26); this is the full technique.

## What the fix replaced

The old model had a terminal state: a technique at 100% became "MASTERED" and stayed there, and life-skills were "100% MASTERED High" once and forever. The author struck it:

> *"There is no such thing: 100% MASTERED"* — and further: *"So why you add what i ever tell you to make this nonsense"*.

The replacement — recorded verbatim from the ruling:

> *"Basic walking and running Low go 1 to 100% — just as it reaches 100% that second it evolves into next like Silent Wind Step Mid level — then same 1 to 100% then as it reaches 100% it becomes next Ghost Frost Storm Step High then same — Yes suitable techniques can fuse like three fuse and become a High and others many, how logically things work."*

**Everything downstream changed with it:** the skills canon, the meters file, the status panel, the chapter footer rules, and the ban sweep that keeps the dead model from creeping back into any draft.

## The evolution chain — the core, with examples

- Every technique has a **grade**: Low · Mid · High · Top — and progresses **1–100% within its grade**.
- **At 100%, that same second, it evolves** into the next technique of its lineage — instant, no resting state, no terminal.
- **Every grade carries a different name.** Mid is not "Low, improved"; it is its own technique with its own identity, its own description, and its own next.

```
Basic Walking (Low)        1–100% → evolves at 100% →
Silent Wind Step (Mid)     1–100% → evolves at 100% →
Ghost Frost Storm Step(High) 1–100% → evolves at 100% →
Storm Frost Ghost Veil (Top)
```

More lines, same shape — *each its own lineage*:

- Running (Low) → **Wind Stride** (Mid) → **Storm Step** (High)
- Body Control (Low) → **Flowing Body** (Mid) → **Storm Body** (High/further)
- Soul Power Control (Low) → **Flowing Control** (Mid) → **Spirit Control** (High)
- Five Senses (Low) → **Keen Senses** (Mid) → **Spirit Eye** (High) — sight, hearing, smell, taste and touch *as a technique*
- Reading (Low) → **Fluent Reading** (Mid) → **Deep Reading** (High) — paced by pages
- Understanding (Low) → **Clear Understanding** (Mid) → **Profound Understanding** (High) — paced by comprehension events
- Cooking (Low) → **Camp Cooking** (Mid) → **Feast Cooking** (High) — paced by meals
- Combat Style (Low) → **Grey Ridge Hunt** (Mid→High fusion) — paced by sparring; the fusion of everything that feeds it

Named-technique discipline applies at every grade — in the model's own reference case, a perception line maturing through stages like *Perception → Attention → Intoxication → Immersion* — but the stages are **grades with different names**, never a terminal badge.

## The fusion law — how logically things work

When suitable techniques reach their ceilings together, they **fuse**:

- **2–3 Lows at 100% fuse → one Mid at 1%. 2–3 Mids → one High. 2–3 Highs → one Top.**
- **Fusion follows logic, never convenience:**
  - movement + movement + body = **movement** (Walking 100% + Running 100% + Body Control 100% → Silent Wind Step, Mid 1%)
  - mental + mental + mental = **mental** (Reading 100% + Understanding 100% + Tally 100% → Clear Mind, Mid 1%)
  - perception + perception + patience = **perception** (Observation 100% + Hunter's Sense 100% + Stillness 100% → Hunter's Eye, Mid 1%)
  - mid-tier example: Silent Wind Step 100% + Wind Stride 100% + Flowing Body 100% → Ghost Frost Storm Step, High 1%
- **No random fusion.** No "everything into one technique." Each technique has a *correct evolution of its own* — the complete per-technique map is [`01`, Appendix B](01_the_laws.md). Combat style fuses the widest set — every basic that feeds it (craft, sense, stillness, stride, spear, tally, soul-power control, body control, the senses, observation, running, reading, understanding, spearmanship, cooking) — into one named method that keeps evolving.

And the law that closes the door on splitting footwork three ways — **footwork fuses**:

> *Which fool masters so many step techniques separately? They fuse!* — the author (F26)

Basic Walking + Basic Running + Mountain Stride are all footwork: at 100% each they fuse into **one** movement technique — Silent Wind Step (Mid) — and evolve from there as **one line**. Not three separate Highs. Ever.

## Grades are honest current readings

The ladder — **Low · Waste · Ordinary · High · Excellent · Top · Top-tier · Ultimate · Divine · Extreme** (attribute roads beyond) — is a *reading of what actually is*, and readings rise as the thing grows. 100% within a grade triggers evolution *instantly*; nothing waits for a chapter to notice. In the reference serial's own gate: the martial soul line reads **Wolf → Storm Frost Ghost Wolf (ice+wind, High)** through bloodlines and thousand-year rings, each step with its own name; the first-ring skill's line runs **Netherlight → Ghost Veil → Ghost Storm Veil**; concealment runs **Ring Veil → Veil of Ghost → Phantom Veil** — every family distinct, nothing merged by convenience, nothing terminal anywhere.

**And the honest-reading rule at the panel:** a grade claim must match the exact-figures section — a grade is never written to flatter the arc. The Grey Wolf's own gate statement is the model: *everything Mid or above at the Ch6 gate, per the author's view; the martial soul evolved to Storm Frost Ghost Wolf with a different name at every grade; skills upgraded on breakthrough; concealment lawful.*

## The current-state example (Grey Wolf, resolved)

Where the reference serial's state stands now (10 chapters shipped, panel v5.4.3 Canon-Strict — measured 2026-10-13):

- **Bloodlines growing honestly:** Grey Wolf (High, the old thin line evolved over five honest years + thousand-year rings; appearance changed; +1.30 talent feeds it) · Ghost Wolf (Mid — first-kill blood; quiet step, seen-late control and observation all Mid+; triggers the Ghost Veil upgrade) · Stormwind (Mid→High — last-hunt blood; fast kind; wind's stride, running and body control; wind attribute even).
- **Two seats, both thousand-year:** Slot 1 — Ghost Wolf, purple, age 120 → **1,350** (concealed as yellow); Slot 2 — Stormwind, purple, **1,850** (concealed as yellow). *Rings age in their seats — not by calendar, but by what pours through them (F16).*
- **Techniques:** everything Mid or above at the gate; the footwork line fused and singular; combat style fused upward through Grey Ridge Hunt into Storm Frost Ghost Hunt; the per-technique map in full effect — **nothing dumped into Silent Wind Step**.

## The checklist this edition stands on

- [x] The dead model is banned **and swept** — a valid "MASTERED terminal" fails the build.
- [x] The chain is pinned in the law list (F23), not only in prose docs.
- [x] Every grade has a different name, and each technique keeps its own lineage.
- [x] Footwork fuses to one line; fusion follows logic and never convenience.
- [x] Grades in the panel are honest current readings, checked against exact figures.
- [x] The pattern is shown by daily-life action in prose — not recited in lists (the clean-and-clear law).
